League of the Lantern-- Brian Wells

Jake never realized how hard sixth grade would be, and he never realized how hard the beginning of seventh would be. On his way to the seventh grade sleepover, he encounters a huge amount of problems...and that was simply getting there. It should have been a hint of things to come.

The sleepover, is a bunch of workshops and team building games. There isn't much sleeping going on in the first place. When the sleepover is invaded, there really isn't going to be sleeping, at least not for a few days anyway.

They manage to get away, but end up fighting for their lives on the mean streets. It's time to grow up and they have to do it quickly. Maybe what he learns about his own family, will be the secret to the mystery and who is chasing them...or maybe not.

I really like this book. It is proof that you can right a book with out violence, blood, and gore, and still be full of action and funny parts. Jake is in that awkward period of life and still finding himself.

I have kids his age and I could have easily put any of them in this book in the place of Jake. Which related to us on a whole different level. I think the book is well written, the story flows well, and you really get transformed into the book while you are reading it.

You can check this book out at Amazon, here, League of the Lantern.

I received this book from FlyBy Promotions, in exchange for my review.
